This course is aimed at students who may need an IELTS qualification to continue their studies in an English-speaking country, or students who would like to become more confident in English. The IELTS examination is accepted by the majority of universities in the UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa as well as by a large number of institutions in the USA. Further information can be found on the website: www.ielts.org

There are no special entry requirements. The course is aimed at students whose proficiency level is around B2 and C1. If you are not sure of your level, you can check the evaluation forms on our page “Enseignement.”

The course will allow students to:

  • recognize the format of the IELTS exam
  • manage complex IELTS-type reading tasks
  • write an essay, putting forward a coherent argument on a given topic
  • handle IELTS data description tasks
  • use a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures

Students will be required to write one IELTS-type essay or data description and take one end-of-semester test.

Each lesson will provide practice based on the different sections of the IELTS test (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing). Speaking practice will include providing personal information and discussing various topics of personal or academic interest. Students will work individually, in pairs or take part in whole-class activities.
