“The Multidimensional Nature of Poverty in Upper-middle-income countries”

My thesis focuses on the multidimensional nature of poverty in upper-middle-income countries. The main goals of this research are to develop a multi-configurations approach to poverty, and to measure poverty based on this proposed approach by using the pattern recognition method. The empirical evidence is shown through a comparative study of Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Turkey. Moreover, thesis puts in evidence shortcomings of traditional multidimensional poverty indices with a specific emphasis on aggregation process, and poverty thresholds.
