CFA / GARP exams and scholarships


What you need to know

  • All UniNE MScF students can apply to either one of the two scholarships and are required to inform the MScF programme directors. Priority is given to 1st-year students.
  • To validate your choice, please complete the CFA / GARP scholarship application form and send it to kira.facchinetti@unine.ch.
  • Application deadline: 31 January 2022.

Registration in IS-Academia

  • 6 elective ECTS can be replaced by passing the CFA Level I exam or the GARP/FRM part I exam.
  • If you pass the exam, send to Kira Facchinetti the email received from the CFA Institute / GARP informing you that you have succeeded.
  • Then register in IS-Academia to the courses "CFA level I (5AF2031)" or "GARP/FRM part I exam (5AF2042)" to validate the credits.

CFA Institute - Level I, II & III Exams

Scholarship information

  • Per annum, we award nine CFA Program Awareness Scholarships for UniNE MScF students willing to enroll in the CFA Program and who meet the programme entrance requirements.
  • CFA Program enrolment fee is waived and exam registration is reduced to USD 350.
  • If a student has already registered for the exam she/he can not apply for a scholarship. No refunds for any exam registrations.
  • Scholarship recipients have up to seven months to register for an exam and redeem their scholarship award.

    Research Foundation publications

    Students can search for and freely download from a vast range of short, readable, practitioner-based research publications - from financial markets, economics, equity analysis and behavioural finance through to fintech and artificial intelligence. This is a great resource to supplement project or dissertation reading.

  • Ethical Decision-Making

    Ethical Decision-Making

    This free online course helps students navigate ethical situations using the Ethical Decision-Making Framework. They are presented with real-world scenarios and case studies in an online platform that allows them to interact with their peers and study at their own pace (1.5 hours learning).

  • CFA Institute Investment Foundations

    CFA Institute Investment Foundations

    This program gives students considering careers in the investment industry a clear understanding of industry structure, job roles, investment instruments, inputs and tools. Suitable for undergraduates, this currently free certificate program is delivered entirely through a modern online learning platform accessible on most devices (80-100 hours learning).

GARP - Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Part 1 exam

Scholarship information

  • ​Per annum, we award six FRM Part 1 scholarships for UniNE MScF students who meet the programme entrance requirements.
  • Only exam registration fees (which include e-books) are refundable under the scholarship programme; the programme enrolment fee of USD 400 is NOT covered.
  • Scholarship recipients have up to one year after being nominated to register and sit for the exam.
  • FRM Part 1 exams can be taken in May or November.
