Shpresa Jashari
Shpresa Jashari is a doctoral student at the Laboratory of Transnational Studies and Social Processes at the University of Neuchâtel. She is currently doing her PHD within the research project “Cross-border marriages under conditions of transnationalization and politicization. A case study in Switzerland” funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Before coming to Neuchâtel, she worked as a research assistant in interdisciplinary linguistics at the University of Bremen and later as a teaching assistant in sociolinguistics and interdisciplinary gender and cultural studies at the Universities of Freiburg im Breisgau and Zürich.
Shpresa Jashari holds an M.A. (Lizentiat) in German Philology, International Law and Political Sciences from the University of Zürich. In her Master’s Thesis she analyzed Kosova-Albanian Comedy productions as a transnational means of negotiating “groupness”, social changes migrated and non-migrated members of the group(s) are undergoing and conflicts arising from those changes.
Her main research interests lie in the fields of migration, transnationalism, gender and space. She approaches these issues intersectionally and interdisciplinarily with the methods of qualitative social research and linguistic discourse analysis.
