My research project focuses on the effects of climate change on different soil ecosystem processes. In my project, I study microbial activity and metabolic profile, the rate of organic matter decomposition, soil respiration, and plant communities along elevation gradients and following a north/south-facing slope model. My project aims to get a better understanding of the roles and interactions between the different actors involved in the decomposition processes and the global carbon cycle and to assess their evolution according to the elevation levels. This work is part of S. Semeraro’s thesis and continues P. Kipf’s master project, including low altitude sites.
