Ce cours traite de thématiques et concepts incontournables en sciences sociales. Plusieurs domaines d'interrogation seront abordés, parmi lesquels les relations entre l'individu, la culture et la société (à travers les formes de socialisation et les interactions sociales quotidiennes). Le projet est de proposer aux étudiant-e-s une vue générale des comportements sociaux au sein des sociétés et des principaux enjeux théoriques (fonctionnalisme, théorie des conflits et interactionnisme symbolique) et thématiques des sciences sociales, notamment du point de vue anthropologique. Des exemples seront tirés de différentes sociétés, y compris les sociétés euro-américaines.
