Objectives

To learn how to discriminate between the most important genera of entomopathogenic fungi from both the Hypocreales (Beauveria, Metarhizium, etc…) and the Entomophthorales (Entomophaga, Pandora, etc…) groups

Content

The 2-days-course includes presentations, demonstrations, and practical training in preparation, microscopy and morphological identification.

Introduction to entomopathogenic fungi: modern taxonomy, basic biology and ecology (1 June 2017, morning session, Dr Jürg Enkerli).

Order Hypocreales: Introduction, preparation, identification of most important genera by morphological characters (1 June 2017, afternoon session, Dr Martin Kirchmair).

Order Entomophthorales: Introduction, preparation, identification of most important genera by morphological characters (2 June 2017, Dr Siegfried Keller).
