Research:
My research is about the link between agriculture, hydrogeological processes in the unsaturated zone, groundwater and drinking water quality. In specific, together with local farmers I perform on-farm research trials in the Gäu region to increase the efficiency of the nitrogen fertilization and therefore to increase groundwater quality. I focus on the leaching processes of nitrate, as the concentration of the latter in the groundwater aquifer nowadays conflicts with the Swiss legislation. I always aim to include the practical knowledge of all stakeholders to find a solution that can finally be implemented to solve the specific land use problems.
Formation:
- MsC in Environmental Engineering at ETH Zürich. 2014-2016. Focus on water resources management and soil sciences. Thesis title: Transport and aquatic risk of pesticides used in vegetable production in the Tapezco catchment, Costa Rica.
- BsC in Environmental System Sciences at ETH Zürich (Switzerland) and DTU Copenhagen (Denmark). 2011-2014. Focus on biogeochemistry and pollutant dynamics.
