Molinia coerulea is an oligotrophic and stress-tolerant plant with a broad ecological amplitude (damp soils, extreme pH values, …). It is naturally occuring in various environments such as littoral prairies of the south shore of Lake Neuchâtel (our main study site), acidic peat bogs or at the foot of calcareous cliffs in the Jura mountains.
Lolium perenne is a fodder species with high nutrient requirements.
