EDIBLE FUNGI: UNIVERSITY RESEARCH AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT

Dr. Daniel Job (Research Director)

The mycology group of our laboratory, headed by Dr. Daniel Job, is conducting research and development on the cultivation of edible fungi, in association with an industrial trust.

Fistulina hepatica

The research has followed 3 main lines:

  • Selection of appropriate strains for industrial production
  • Production of a suitable substrate using various available agricultural and industrial wastes
  • Analysis of the environmental factors that influence the growth physiology of the fungi

We have developped cultural methods for the following fungi:

Agrocybe aegerita

Fistulina hepatica

Flammulina velutipes

Grifola frondosa

Hericium erinaceum

Hypsizigus marmoreus

Kuehneromyces mutabilis

Lentinus conchatus

Lentinus edodes

Lyophillum ulmarium

L. aggregatum

Meripilus giganteus

Pholiota nameko

Pleurotus citrinopileatus

Pl.eous

Pl. eryngii

Pl. ostreatus

Polyporus squamosus

P. tuberaster

Sparassis crispa

Sp. Laminosa

Stropharia rugosa-annulata

The industrial exploitation of the is carried out by Mycotec SA in Neuchâtel.

Pholiota nameko

Knowledge aquired during this research has allowed us to abord culture of species potentially interesting for pharmacological research. We are also interested in morphological and biochemical modulation in a given species in accordance with trophic and environmental conditions.
