Supervisor: Professor Patrick Vincent

I have recently completed an M.Litt at the University of Oxford entitled ‘“Acting a Part” in Jane Austen’s Fiction’, which explores the question of acting in Austen’s fiction through the her inclusion of contemporary acting theory in her novels.

I am starting a PhD at the University of Neuchâtel on the question of artifice in the late eighteenth- and early-nineteenth century novel, focusing on the works of Jane Austen, Frances Burney, and Maria Edgeworth. I am particularly interested in issues of language and ideas of self-fashioning and performance.

Research Interests
I am interested in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century fiction and drama, private theatricals, language, art history, and critical theory.
